Keeping in mind the various suggestions/requests received from aspirants of JEE Mains across the nation, it has been decided to conduct JEE Mains 4 times in a year (Feb, March, April, & May). I announced the dates for the same today. The 1st JEE Mains will be conducted between 23-26 Feb. Session 2 of the exam will take place between 15-18 March. For April, the exam will be held between 27 & 30. Students can give the final attempt from 24-28 May. This will give multiple opportunities to candidates to improve their scores in the exam if they are not able to give their best in one attempt. I am certain that it will also reduce the chances of dropping a year & droppers would not have to waste a full year. A candidate need not appear in all the four sessions. However, if a candidate appears in more than one session then his/her best of the 2021 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking. NTA has also decided that the question paper will contain 90 questions, in which the candidate will have to attempt a total of 75 questions. The choice will be given in Section B (numerical), which will not have any negative marking. Candidates can apply for JEE Mains 2021 through “Online” mode only between 16 Dec 2020 to 16 Jan 2021. The fees can be paid online upto 17 Jan 2021. Fees can be paid for all 4 sessions at the same time.

While applying for JEE(mains), candidates have to select any four cities of their choice. The efforts will be made to allot the city of examination to the candidates in order of choice opted by them in their online Application Form. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted. Candidates who apply for more than one Session of the JEE Mains exam can change their choice of cities in the correction window, which will be opened in due course under intimation to them through a public notice for each session. Drawing from #NEP2020, the JEE Mains 2021 will now be conducted for the first time in regional languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, etc.

We have examined your suggestions regarding JEE (Mains) and on the basis of the same, I am announcing the schedule of the exam.
